Well, Get Out Alive sucked, let's see about this one. I'm afraid it could get pretty boring with 5 episodes of one hour each on the same small island. People want Bear Grylls back in the wild, alone, not coaching survival-enthusiasts.

Yeah I enjoy bears, theres a lot of negative stuff online about him faking stuff but if you read the small print he does have to stage some stuff to show you what you should do in a situation like that. He was in the British sas and was the youngest to summit mt everest. If I was lost out bush id be happy to have him with me. and you would find he would conduct himself differently than on his staged show.

Les stroud (survivorman) films himself, no camera crew but he does have a support crew near by and carries a sat phone just in case. I do like the way he present s his show. No bull %%%% a bit of humor too.

Rod hoods , aka woodsmaster did some great bush craft and survival stuff. Told it as it was and explained in depth what he was doing and why. He s has passed away unfortunately. His wife has continued doing survival stuff and their web site is
http://www.survival.com. heaps on youtube.

bear is a joke as an example of what you should do...
you should avoid vertical rock faces like the plague and water falls. avoid winging it over dangerous terrain with ad hock ropes and fallen trees, avoid drinking your urine almost on pain of death....
be far more selective on where and when to cross water courses.
his man vs wild show was set up as a stunt show to get high ratings...
Ray mears and les stroud are scathing about the way bear conducts himself..
from the land of the long white clouds...

I agree wayno. the last thing you want to do in a survival situation is take more risks.. like jumping into waterfalls etc... I forgot about Ray Mears.... he knows his stuff.

yup i forgot to mention avoid running and jumping as much as possible. avoid doing anything that increases your risk of injury, friend of mine was a professional adventure racer and he looks at what bear does as completely wrong... often he'd be looking to take longer routes using easier terrain than going in straight lines at the most difficult terrain...

agreed.... if he was in a real situation he would act a lot differently.... I guess he though most ppl would get bored watching him during prime time tv setting up snares and a shelter and conserving his energy so that's why he jumps around abit..

well they had a full shot of his backside with the enema tube going in, no attempt to blur anything out .... sounds like they aired it in prime time tv...

apart from that scene it was a very interesting show.. a bunch of outdoor novices learning how to survive on their own and how to tolerate each other with all the difficulties they faced... looked like they'd fall to bits... there was none of the contrived scenarios of Survivor...
