Shooting star

I was just out in the backyard (suburban Sydney) looking up at some lorikeets in a tree, when I guess what could only be a shooting star streaked across the sky beyond the tree. I've seen hundreds at night, but never when the sun is almost up and no other stars are visible in the sky. Nice way to start the day.

If it's extra bright it probably means it's a meteorite burning up relatively close by. This one was so bright it lit up the beach!

Yeah, I did. The same bright light against a daytime sky, although mine was there and gone in a split second.

That was pretty spectacular! Any bigger, it may have meant the end of YouTube and no one would know about it.
