Here's a question. How does one adjust for magnetic declination whilst going across a few thousand km across the ocean? Do marine compasses have declination adjustments? Or do they just use GPS or sextant?

ROFL! What if the compass or GPS is faulty, or winds and tide blows the kayaker back to Australia. Will he end up in Sri Lanka or Manus Island? I'm not sure what a sextant is - sex in a tent? I can't see this happening in a kayak.
