I wonder how long this will take to become an argument...

I personally prefer neither. I can't justify the combination of extra selfish ecological load, plus the meat/feed.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

A home needs a cat, a person needs a dog, and the environment needs you to befriend the local quolls/potoroos/wallabies/bluetongues/whatever natives hang around your place, which generally means no dogs or cats or introduced species.

Personally, I've always wanted a pet seal. Great diving companion.

As long as that's not a euphemism.

more of a double entendre.

I had actually been out playing with my macro lens and looking at the photos I'd taken of some spiders and this skink when I saw this thread,..

We have an inside Cat with outside privileges she only goes outside on a harness and lead so we have little Skinks, Blue Tongues, ( the occasional Snake) Bandicoots and their babies Rabbits and Wallabies plus a myriad of Native and introduced birds so no problem having a pet living in harmony with wildlife.

I'm impressed, corvus. I've never come across anyone else doing that. Often there's a comment like, 'Oh, she's not really a hunter'... and i picture the unseen trail of destruction after those cats left to their own devices outside. :(

Thanks to the cat brown snakes and rats are no longer a problem on my property. Rabbits were never common. Still plenty of birds, bandicoots and lizards though.

Proper dogs. Anything under 40kgs is a cat with poor hygiene.

I used to think small dogs weren't really dogs. My friends got a Jack Russell. The bravest dog I've ever seen.
