That is sad news, on a man who introduced the numerous wonders of the bush to many of us in our younger days. RIP.
Just move it!

I'm saddened to hear this. I used to enjoy watching him on tv when I was a kid in WA - can't remember the name of the program.

Edit - just read the article. "In the Wild" it was.

Sorry to hear that mate. Harry was regularly sighted near my home in Lesmurdie. I think he lived near by. I thought he was awesome as a kid. RIP.

Am I the only person chanelling Redgum's Harry "I'm a Sell-out *&%$#!" Butler? Probably.

I also thought he was awesome as a kid.
Then he sold out to the Tasmanian Hydro in support of the Franklin dam.
Then I realised he was already in the pocket of a massive gas and petroleum company, Chevron.
Then I grew up.
Then he lost all credibility.
Even Peter Garrett wasn't (quite) as big a disappointment.

Way to be extremely ugly in a thread people are expressing grief.

Grow up more please.

I don't think it's either immature or ugly to have done your grieving when you realised an idol had feet of clay.

I think Iv'e told this story before but in light of the sad news I'll go again.

Exploring a creek with a mate during the early 80's fairly deep in the Royal, when in the near distance we heard the crunch of approaching foot steps. Wh should appear? none other than Harry, tipped his lid and without a word crossed the creek and vanished up the opposite ridge.

Me and my mate just looked at each other and burst out in laughter.

People may question his political leanings but the fact he blew hundreds of feral cats to hell with his trusty 12 guage makes him alright by me!
