HELP required with Aldi!

Postby north-north-west » Wed 11 May, 2016 2:06 pm

Hello everyone. Not sure if this is the best spot to post this, but need to try.

Is there anyone on the mainland near an Aldi store who can drop in when the ski gear sale is on and grab me two pair of ski compression tights? Women's, size S (for small). Will pay in advance by bank transfer, including a bit extra for postage.

Please, please, pretty please? My old tights are stuffed and Aldi isn't down here yet.

So the compression tights actually do something! What's the benefit from your point of view, NNW?

The knee gives me less trouble at the end of a day's walking, less likely to get night-time cramp if I forget the morning Vegemite, and just generally less muscular soreness and stiffness, especially if it's the first walk after a break.
It's not a massive difference, but enough to be noticeable.

I'll be lining up at 8.30am on Saturday with the great unwashed, so happy to assist if other plans fall through.

Workout gear a couple of weeks ago - all the yoga/fitness instructors were stocking up on blocks & mats. Ya gotta be quick !

Thanks Eremophilia, really appreciate the offer. Think I've got it covered.

And thanks to all who have answered.

Wow - I arrived at Aldi at 8.45am to find the entire carpark full. Inside was chaos! Got the last pair of Medium-sized compression leggings. There weren't many of the long-sleeved compression tops left either, just the tank tops.
The top fits fine and is a good length, hopefully won't do that annoying roll-up thing.
I bought the set of "normal" thermals as well, and a roll-neck top. Great value.

Glad you didn't have to cope with my shopping list on top of that, Eremophilia. My shopper survived, but he certainly didn't enjoy the experience. It's going to take a double pack of Tim Tams and a slab to get him back there next time . . .

If I was shopping for someone else I would've gotten there before opening time and queued up, to ensure I was successful.

Went back this arvo and picked through the remains. Made note of a couple of items I'd like to buy next year - the merino tops with the half-zip neck looked good.

I went to get NNW's compression tights. Got there about 8.20am (opened at 8.30am) and there were already about 50-60 people lining up. Once the doors opened people were literally pushing others out of their way to get what they wanted. As I mentioned to NNW, it reminded me of a chip being thrown to a flock of seagulls. I was actually lucky as when I eventually found what NNW required it was located at the end of the shelf so I didn't have to enter the aisles. Found her size and got out of the shop within five minutes.

I've only done the line-up thing once, when there was fitness equipment. There were at least 50 people lined up, but it was all surprisingly orderly once the doors opened.

Mind you, by the look of the customers, most of said equipment would never ever be used and would be gathering dust

First ever participation and lined up for 15mins with maybe 50 people ahead of me. Orderly entry and fortunately there were enough stock to satisfy the early birds.

Son decided he wanted a pair of the merino thermal bottoms as he continually rips his thermals canyoning. He was away on a trip so I went to a local Aldi about an hour after opening on Saturday and got the last pair in his size. Looks reasonable quality - his comment was not as good as Icebreaker until I pointed out the price difference and the fact that he regularly destroys them anyway! Plenty of people rummaging through the snow gear but I agree with the previous comment that most of it will unlikely see serious use.

Much of the goods in out society won't see serious use, that goes even to food. So no surprise. Yet, I think the construction of the gear is good enough for reasonable use.

It does me...but what you save in the dollar you pay with lining up with some of the weirdest shoppers in the consumer game. Man, there are some serious specimens drawn to the Aldi chain....probably me included!

HELP required with Aldi!

Postby GPSGuided » Tue 14 Jun, 2016 9:36 pm

Following my first ever Aldi line up, I didn't see any peculiar specimens. I think it much depends on the particular store, items on sale and time. Similarly, the demographics of Costco shoppers can be significantly different depending on when one goes there.
