Good Eco accomodation near Melbourne

Thu 12 May, 2016 9:07 pm

On the Atherton Tablelands there's a place called Possum Valley which is a couple of cheap rent-able houses on a large acreage in the rainforest with walking trails and Tree Kangaroos, possums, Cassowaries etc.
I'm looking for something similar near(ish) to Melbourne to take my GF for her birthday in early Aug.
Any ideas?
cheers
Steve

Hadn't considered Blackwood but it's kinda a fave of mine and the house looks nice. And for early August might be nicer than Gippsland.

Another idea is Daylesford which is a lovely area with lots to do, or not do if you just want to hang out.
There a lots of spings in that general area but at the nearby Hepburn Springs you can have spas and treatments.
If you google "eco retreat" in Daylesford or Hepburn Springs there are various accomodations available.
