Guilty Pleasures

What's one of your quirks when bushwalking?

It could be a tipple of something special, a dance in the moonlight or a fanatic UL reduction...

OK I'll kick it off:

Just got a new toothbrush and trimmed the handle below the thumb groove, smoothed the cut end with sandpaper.

Why not save a gram?!

If i'm looking for a change from porridge on the trail I'll prepare an omelette the night before but I won't cook it, instead I'll put a serving or two into a ziplock bag and freeze it. That way it'll stay frozen on the first day of the hike and then the next morning when it's thawed I''ll throw the whole ziplock bag into a pot of boiling water. Voilà, hot food with no cleanup or pans needed, and as an added bonus it doesn't need special protection like eggs!

Yesterday I made a no nut track mix. Tasty!
The recipe is two desert spoons of each:

Shaved dried coconut
Goji berries
Organic Aussie sultanas
Cadbury dark choc bits
Sunflower kernels

Will try adding some shelled pistachio nuts for luxury.

If I want to I'll carry a little HF radio, random wire antenna and tuner and just have fun chatting

If I know there's no-one else within 5 km I'll pull out the harmonica and mangle a few tunes.

Took my Aldi ultralight chair on my last 2 night trip. The open gaping mouths of my companions were priceless as I ostentatiously set it up and relaxed with a glass of shiraz. Pity it rained cats and dogs the next night and had to be satisfied with chocolate and wine in the tent listening to music.

As if the chocolates and wine weren't fancy enough, hope you had some cheese to go with it!

Well I do almost always take a small Bohemia crystal glass to drink my port from, but I don't feel guilty doing so

JERKY!!

I make my own venison jerky but nibble it sparingly at home, saving it miserly for when out walking. And once I'm out I consume like a decadent Roman emperor....

I trimmed the handle to save space not weight (might have had a few sherbets at the time).

Now I'm thinking that a short handled toothbrush is better for the gums because you can't apply as much force when brushing.

Chocolate and when cold brandy. Not a lot, just enough for a few nips listening to some music.
