We'll turn on the really bad summer weather just for you, John.

As an aside, where does one get tiny little screws to mend a pair of sunglasses? Great glasses, cheap and very comfortable, except half the *&%$#! screws holding them together have fallen out. Might have to add a bit of Loctite to hold them all in.

Take them to an optometrist. Normally a very minimal charge to fix them.

Nice John. You'll like Sprent. On a clear day the views are superb. Enjoy your time here mate.

Why and who tags roadkill? I have seen paint and flagging tape used, on highways, main roads and semi urban roads.

It's to let people know the carcass has been checked for pouch young.

Who checks to see that the tape has been removed after the carcass has rotted away? ;-)

With the vast amount of litter discarded along out roads a piece of flagging tape is a mere drop in the ocean.

Relevant pun intended.

Flagging tape should be paper only with a natural dye!

North QLD doesn't do this but it reminds me the amount of roadkill we get here these days, mostly wallabies, a lot of squashed birds of prey feeding off them. Some friends and I were discussing why there appears to be a lot more than there was in the 90's and 2000's. Increased animal populations? Is it the same for you guys?

You know that tiny little black bit on the B.O.M. website? Well it is sitting right over our house at the moment, I had to turn the outside fairy lights on. Anybody got a cheap rubber duckie if I need one>??

Great comic actor John Banner aka Schultzy from Hogan's Heroes, for those of you that remember that far back.

I know no-th-ing! Except that I bought myself a Sawyer Mini filter to put under the tree for mrs to give to me.
A piece of kit for occasional use that weighs almost nothing and is very compact.

Anyone like trebuchets?

Re: the No Particular Topic topic

Sun 23 Dec, 2018 6:15 am

It'd be great to have one handy.
I could hit the city from here maybe.
I have limited ongoing use though. If i started trying to conquer nearby villages i'm sure i would draw the attention of authorities.

Awesome though (had to look up what one was!)

Could just fling lollies :)

I saw a story on TV of a Santa giving to kids apples and oranges etc, whilst claiming lollies were bad news. Unfortunately most of the kids weren't impressed.
I'm sure if i flung fruit from a trebuchet i would make a greater impression.

Some people live in air-conditioning.
After 18 months on the road I still feel a bit weird being indoors. Windows and doors open!

Looking forward to 2019 sleeping mostly in a tent, or under a tarp (ticks & leeches permitting).

Re: the No Particular Topic topic

You could always get a heap of ticks and leeches and sprinkle them around the house.

Or Chiggers I'm sure I can post chiggers with no problems
Blow flies too if you want

They say chiggers are in every country.
I don't know i've ever seen them in SEQ.

Re: the No Particular Topic topic

We get chiggers with isolated outbreaks of scrub typhus. Usually soldiers training in the area, one of the few groups still crawling about and sleeping in the muck.

What do you always pack but never or rarely use?

Resting a knee issue, so unpacked my 45l to see why its so full...
Mini first aid and repairs is small, rarely needed. Good rain gear, rarely needed.

Sleep system minimal, group FAK chunky if I pack that. Tent small, few spare under clothes, no chair but sit foamy.
