Any backyard permaculturists out there?

Postby Tortoise » Sat 29 Jun, 2019 4:23 pm

Hoping to develop a community garden based on permaculture principles as much as possible. I've got zillions of ideas, but would love to chat with someone who has done it, ideally in Tassie. Thanks. :)

There was a good episode recently of Gardening Australia with a working bee / volunteer group in Hobart building a permaculture garden. I believe the designer etc were paid, but others looking for experience joined in. If you volunteer at other similar startups, they all come to your place and help you in return. Probably a good way to get into that community !

I'll try and help if you're local, but I'm not heavily into permaculture.

Thanks CasualNerd. I did see that one. I love the concept, and would like to be involved. No better way to learn than doing. And qualify down the track for a Permablitz. :) I hopefully joined Permaculture Tasmania a while ago, but I think they're very short on admin volunteers. Nothing has happened except that they received my payment, and someone should have contacted me. I know from the other side what it's like to have not enough volunteers for that sort of thing, so I'm not complaining. I'm just hanging out to talk with someone who has had more experience with it than me. And to look at what folks have done in their backyards.
Thanks for the kind offer of help, too. :) Not sure you're in the NW, though.
Cheers

My next door just did a two week course with David Holmgren.
She says she learnt a lot and had fun too.
My own backyard in sliding deep into neglect and we still don't have choox but I'm still recycling roadkill into compost.
