Tas Honeyeater Bird Aggression

Tue 30 Dec, 2014 7:16 pm

Has anyone else noticed how noisy and aggressive our local Little Wattlebirds have become recently ? first light when the Blackbirds start to sing the Wattlebirds start and continue for at least an hour with their raucous repetitive squawking,I have also noticed them harassing the Blackbirds and indeed have evidenced them as to them killing a couple of Females in the last few days ,don't compete for the same food so cannot understand this behavior ?
They have also ousted the New Holland Honeyeaters and Butcherbirds from my garden :(

They could be nesting and defending their territory.

Wattlebirds have always been highly aggressive toward other species in my observations. I just assumed it to be territorial behaviour.
