FS: SA: DIY Tarp kit / materials

Once an item is sold, found or thread is no longer needed we move it here. These maybe helpful for historic reasons.

FS: SA: DIY Tarp kit / materials

Postby Mickl » Fri 03 Feb, 2017 3:30 pm

Up for sale as part of the ongoing cupboard clean out is all the materials for a DIY tarp kit purchased from Tier Gear. I purchased this with the intention of making myself a tarp and in the end I ran out of time prior to a trip and ended up buying a pre made 3x3 tarp from Terra Rossa Gear.

This kit was to make a 3x3 tarp and includes:

Material for the tarp which I believe is 30D silnylon in dark green colour
Material for a stuff sack and cord lock for drawstring
8 pre-cut triangle tie out reinforcements
webbing for tie out points
8 plastic tie out triangles
a roll of thread

I believe this kit cost me just over $150 including postage and is all still new in the plastic bag as delivered.

Will sell for $125 including postage in OZ.

Bank deposit as payment...

Thanks

Mick

Would you recommend a tarp for a first DIY project?

Hi Mate,

I was planning on it being my first and only didn't due to time. I think plenty of others on the forum have done a tarp as a first project so I don't see why not. Would probably depend on how confident you are I guess. You could always get some practice material first and then start on the stuff sac before the tarp :D

Let me know if you're interested....

Just to add to Mickl's post the silnylon in question is a high quality silnylon made in the USA from nylon 66 so it has very high tear and tensile strength for its weight, and a decent waterproof rating. If anyone needs help making the tarp just contact me.
