I'd also be interested to try it, as a groundsheet and/or tarp.

My introduction to this forum to Tyvek was indeed about footprints/ground sheets and it does work.

It's called Tyvek Homewrap, I reckon a simple google will find you the fact sheet on it. Good luck.

What is 1443r and why won't the home wrap do?

1443r is a softer tyvek, I won't use homewrap because its heavier and is loud when used as a tarp! it is fine for footprints and ground sheets.

Tyvek by the metre for bushwalkers

Postby JoshT » Thu 17 May, 2012 1:48 pm

Hello tyvek fans, I'm looking for quite a few metres (maybe around 10m?) for my scout troop, and was considering maybe buying a whole roll. Does anyone know a supplier in Sydney?

I'd be happy with buying what I need off someone here if there's any available, or selling on if I buy a whole roll.

Hello Lady McGuyver

I would be interested in getting 2 metres of Tyvek homewrap, to use as a tent footprint, if there is any available at the moment.

Please pm postage and price details.
Does it still come in 2.7m width rolls?

Thanks

Cheers

Hi, I am after some Tyvek so that i can make a bivvy bag and a ground sheet for my trip to europe in 2 weeks time.

I live in Melbourne does anyone have some that i could buy off them and recieve pretty soon? I would probably be interested in about 4 meters at a guess.

Otherwise is there any supplier in Melbourne for a full roll?

Thanks Steve.

Hi All,

I am wondering if ayone has any of this fantastic sounding Tyvek sheeting available? I am planning to go on a trip in a few weeks and a sheet to put under my new Darche Hybrid would be great to keep the moisture away.

Cheers, Pok

Hi All

My first ever post, so please treat me kindly.

The reason for the post is to request two pieces of 2mX2.7m Tyvek home wrap if this is again organized.

Many thanks for all the wisdom on this site - I have learned heaps.

Cheers Bill

Hi All,

Am in the process of planning a 6-7 day trek ( for second week of September) and it's time to get rid of the heavy ground sheet I've been using for the past umpteen years.
I am keen to trial some Tyvek, but can only seem to find it in large rolls at hardware stores.. Does anyone know where I can source 2m x 2.5m or so of Tyvek in Tas? Woudl really appreciate any insights!

I had a 1443r car cover from a few years back that I was saving for a footprint once I got the right tent. But my father found it in his garage and threw it out!
