Aldi Suggestion box

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Drybags as well next week. I missed these last time. Also the sleeping bags they have next week I got one last year. For $20 its a decent summer bag. Has the weight 720gms listed. Not UL or anything but for 20 cant complain

Didn't think much of the dry bags; I thought they were a little too heavy but I did spend $20- and bought a cheap sleeping bag. I'm going to cut it right down to an elephants foot and put it in the winter day sack until I can afford to buy [ or possible sew up] a ULW down half bag. well worth the $20- but only suit some-one skinny, interestingly it also fits inside my current synthetic summer/winter emergency bag

The dry bags are a little heavy but handy enough for $7 - even for just taking kids gear to the beach. I grabbed two sets.

I wasn't thinking of that, maybe we'll go back and grab a set for GK's gear although we don't take them to the beach all that often, be handy for all the wet and stinky clothes from daycare too

Just took them out of the packaging. The largest size isn't really that useful to me but perhaps good for a packliner for some. The smaller two sizes will be handy for spare clothing on day walks etc.

Yeah got the drybags reasonably happy for the price. Tempted to grab another sleeping bag they are great value. I slept in the one I.got last year last night. Comfy bag but I use is as a quilt, as MD says pretty skinny

No dry bags at my local store either. :-( Maybe i should rethink the sleeping bag, but at a comfort temp of +13, I'm wondering when i'd ever use it! Moondog probably has the idea - use it differently.

The sleeping bag is incredible value for money but as well as being skinny it is a strange cut, narrow in the shoulders and big in the chest. to me it feels as if it would fit females much better than males. Not that this bothers me at all as my intention is to cut it down to a half bag to fit my torso only.
What do I do with the off-cut top half? I could use it to increase the insulation in the foot box area but does anybody want it??

No I'm good thanks mate. I had a look at them when there was a pile initially. Certainly compact when packed!

The quality is OK. The edge of the fabric isn't folded over where it is stitched to the top webbing, which is just a bit messy if anything, but they are seam taped. I wouldn't submerge them but can't imagine any issues in a pack during a heavy downpour.

I have just submerged one with the tail end of a roll of loo paper inside. ONly held it down for 60 secs.

Some air bubbles coming out of the rolled top, but the loo roll was dry.

MIght need a longer submerge to really test it.. but I think they'll be good enough inside my panniers.

For the hell of it, the loo roll went back in, air expelled, bag tossed in the bath then I went to work.

Came back about 10 hours later. I was a bit careless when I opened it, so some water was miy fault but there was some water inside and the loo roll had suffered. Not catastrophically but there were definite wet spots So 10 hours submerged in the bath your underwear might get damp in spots.

Another thing the small one could be useful for is a rubbish bag. Doesn't need to be waterproof, just to contain mess and/or smells.

Thanks guys on the testing and reviews! Appreciate them. On the question of garbage bag, I'd differ and say it's more critical for it to be well sealed, or else the smell and leakage. A real health hazard.

If you want mine you can have it
I experimented cutting it down for a half bag so it is in 2 bits, Postage only Free to you PD' Or you could use it as a half bag, I found it too lightweight to be useful
