TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I am not sure if this is the place to post this - but if there is such a thing I bet someone here knows about it.

I am looking for a pack that will

1. Survive 6 months of travel
2. Is carry on size
3. Is light but sturdy
4. Can be used for walking/has waist strap but also able to be lugged onto and off planes, trains, automobiles (oh and small rafts in out of the way rivers)
5. Is somewhat waterproof
6. Has quite a few compartments
7. Is comfortable enough to walk for many km if needed

Does anyone know of such a thing - or has one?? - or am I dreaming?

Hmm anyone had an experience with?

interesting that you can add a load of gear to the mesh pockets - although I am wondering if they would get caught on things going on planes

We have a Macpac Kauri pack that we were allowed to carry on to a plane - didn't actually check its size tho.
Could be worth a look.
