frenchmans gear list. Warning, a few pics

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

frenchmans gear list. Warning, a few pics

G’Day
A few people asked what gear I took on my recent trip to Frenchman’s. The trip was planned to be 5 days, 4 nights. It was to include a swim and about 10k's of off track that included some heavy scrub. This gear is what suits my level of comfort, safety, budget and enjoyment.
I have no intention in telling anyone what they should do and in reality no one should even listen to me.
If anyone has any questions ill do my best to answer
I included the individual packaging in these weight which were mostly sylnylon bags, alkosack bags and snap locks

I think that’s it. If you want any photos of the individual kits let me know
hope that helps
One more thing
If you would like to argue with me on the suitability of my gear consider this. Gear choice is a matter of personal preference so arguing would be like you arguing with me that red is better than blue when you like red and I like blue. It would be pointless and without the possibility of a resolution
Thanks
Darren

Hi Darren,

Thanks for posting your gear list, I calculated your base weight is 7.814kg+food, it might not be under 6kg but not bad for gear suitable for Tasmanian conditions, well done.

G'Day Tony and Corvus
Thanks for that.
There’s a few improvements i never got done in time, insulated 1/2 pants, and re packaging some stuff in my odds and sods bag, probably only good for about 200-250 grm reduction. Because of the swim I took the pack liner and turkey bags but I never used them. Every thing else I was happy with.
You might not have noticed but i vacuum packed back country meals to save space. I think i could use this pack for 7 days, 6 nights in the same area as there would only be 1100g of food extra.
While some of the gear requires care it is good for extended rain and would be comfortable to about -2 at night.
The best thing for me is it all fits in the amp 35 that is narrower than me and only just above my shoulders which is great for pushing through scrub.
