TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Hoping for a very cold winter

Postby Moondog55 » Sat 04 Jun, 2016 1:03 pm

So I have been up and erected the tents ready for the skiing
I hope it's a cold winter because that little cast iron stove may be megaoverkill
It's a big tent but after being alite for a short period of time I was down to the jocks and sweating profusely
Maybe I'll buy another big tent, put a big pot of water on the stove and charge for saunas
A tiny little bit of extra heat is nice but I think it was over 70C in there until I opened the roof vent and cracked the door.

No more wet soggy clothing and socks and no sharing the hut with 30 or 40 kids in the same situation
I woke up this morning to find a little brown Antechinus nibbling on my Butternut Snap, crikey those things are fast.
All food goes in tins or Moccona jars tho I don't believe in feeding the wildlife. I do wish I could take in rifle tho; I was 25klicks or slower down the mountain at 0200 because there were Sambar on every corner and as much as I was tempted to topple one with the car No bullbar and the excess is more than the venison is worth

Well here it is almost the end of June and still no snow; so far the winter is much warmer than I have been used to.
Headed back up the hill next week after the Boss has settled back into home

I can't believe the snow or lack of it. I will be coming up late July, early August so there better be a snow pack by then!!!

Warmer at Falls Creek than here in Norlane more than a few times so far
It's a real shame Malcolm don't ski or we'd have climate change legislation already.
Hopefully the system coming in on Friday will be cold enough and contain enough moisture to drop some white stuff on the high ground

See my other post
It is almost cold enough now, although I have no problem if it got down to double digit negatives
