Q: Repellent for NZ SI Sand Flies?

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Q: Repellent for NZ SI Sand Flies?

Postby enduro » Mon 30 Jan, 2017 9:45 am

Hi all,

I'm of to NZ South Islands Nelson Nat. Park in a matter of weeks and my only concern now is the sand flies.

Other than just covering up, can anyone recommend a good deterrent against them?

I would normally use Aeroguard in the pump pack in Australia for such things.

Thank you!

thanks for the link to the other thread.

prior to making this thread, I did a search and there was no dedicated thread ... I see that the thread you have included is actually called "sandfliy".

I'll contact a mod to have the thread name updated to the correct spelling.
