Tent decisions

Gday guys, first post :mrgreen:

I am looking at a couple of tents as im wanting to get into some hikes. Planning for the great ocean walk next year maybe with the other half but for now need a tent.
Weighing up the blackwolf grasshopper 2 or a marmot tungsten 2p.
The blackwolf seems more attractive for a bit more space and width, also the price but it weighs more.
Looking at 2.4kg vs 2.6kg

Any experiences or suggestions?

Sometimes may be weekend and looking at multi day hikes in the future such as great Ocean walk and Wilsons prom etc. May as well kill 2 birds there.
As for budget, trying not to go past 400, 450. I am considering stretching it if i need to.

Ended up with the Marmot Tungsten 2p. Test will be over the easter weekend

I think that's the tent Joe had that got flattened at the Eldon Peak campsite. Not all that surprising that one of the three failed given the conditions, but the Scarp held up well enough.

The wind gauge at Mt Read clocked 94km. We were higher, equally exposed so probably around 100km.
It was not fun.

After several hikes,I found the tent that suited me best was one that was free standing. ie. no ropes or pegs required.
This so you can erect it on flat rock or sand.
High head height so you can sit up.
Side entry makes it easier getting in and out.
Lightweight.
Lot of mesh for hot nights and a fly for the colder nights or rain.
I bought my last tent about ten years. it is a single MSR. Forgotten the model name
It has servered me well.
Not sure what current tents on the market are like.
Been a long time since I've looked at new tents
