Air mattress help!

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Air mattress help!

Postby threshold » Mon 03 Jul, 2017 8:22 am

Hey

Everytime I am on my neo air xlite I am waking up off of it!

I try to find flat ground but it is like trying to sleep on prison soap!

I am guessing I might toss and turn more than I thought.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Time to go back to a CCF?

Some sleeping bag fabrics and mat fabrics don't play nicely together unfortunately. What kind of bag do you have?

Echoing what Moondog said, sticking a few dabs of silicon on the mat will work for sure.

best thing about a quilts is the lack of slipping in my opinion. Something worth thinking about :)

That's one thing I like about Exped mats. The sides are raised and I always felt that I'm being snugged on it. Maybe worth a try than going backwards to CCF.
Just move it!

Raised sides are such a good feature. I wish I'd known about the Expeds before I bought my NeoAir Xlite. The NeoAir is wonderful in every other way: it's compact, it's light, and it's supremely comfortable, but I slip off it.

I completely solved the problem by buying a Thermarest Compressible Pillow (the small-sized one is perfect). It compresses nicely in the middle under the weight of my head, and the less-compressed bits at the side stay raised up just enough to stop me losing my place on the mat.

I've never had such a comfortable sleeping setup. I'm just sad that I've now been spoiled by this pillow - it's going to be hard to ever leave behind that 240 grams :(

It's the one big failing of the Neoair series - the horizontal baffles have very soft shoulders making the useable width of the mat much less than it should be.

You could buy a Thermarest fitted top sheet for it. They make them.
