TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Has anybody here in the forum had any personal experience with these down jumpers?
I am looking seriously at a new passive midlayer for winter in the Northern hemisphere, even if it takes me a year to fund it.
To be also utilised as a booster layer when sleeping naturally.
If my DAS clone could be worn inside my sleeping bag it would be my choice but using it would compress the sleeping bags loft too much and my old Everest parka is simply too small after growing some after my 30th birthday.
So few people make down pullovers with integral hoods

A bit heavy for air travel in the Arctic, that's for car camping or for Pretty Valley next season

Not a bad idea but i don't think it would work above the Arctic Circle.
Bucket list trips to the Arctic
I am trying to get the total weight of my winter kit down to about 13 kilos [ not counting skis/ski boots/poles] and compact enough to fit inside a Paris sled and still stay inside a certain budget

Well after I could wait no longer I've orderd my XXL with 5 ounces extra.
That is very slightly more than 50% taking the down fill to 14 ounces or 400 grams.
I'm wondering how 400 grams of 800FP down will compare to 650 grams of 650 FP, that being how the Everest duvet I am selling is stuffed
I've also ordered the UL version but with a separate second exterior shell of Pertex and a secondary layer of 3.5 ounce APEX over the shoulder area and under the down to resist compression when and if I need to add the Big Mother parka over the top
A seriously expenzive garment with all the options added, I am going to have to sell the tadpoles into slavery or take out a second mortage on the wife
I've made an arrangement to pay this off over a long period of time so the sewing won't start until it has been fully paid for, but as my stuff sells the money will go to the new duvet. I hope to have it here in time for next years ski season

Sorry for the late reply but I only occasionally look at this sight. I have a Nunatak down jacket. Had it for a about five years. Great jacket. Mine is lighter than yours. Made for Australia with about 200g of down. Warm as toast. I would use in Canada etc. as day touring belay type jacket but not warm enough for overnight.

I am making the prediction you will be pleased with yours.

Well I'm hoping so Gordon, although somebody over at BPL just told me to stop faffing around and get a "Proper parka"
What the heck constitutes a proper parka? For there or over here?
I'd love to save the money and keep using my own "Proper Parka" but it doesn't fit me any more.
