TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I reckon the fly is completely gone.. UV damage would be significant to have that much discoloration. Especially considering the seller mentions it might be possible to buy a new fly.

If it is possible to buy a new fly?? (at a reasonable cost) and the inner and poles are in good nick then it could be good purchase if the bidding stays low.

I did already ask the seller what the original colour was bust so far no reply
This is the iteration of the Olympus that I always thought was the better/best of them and after 20 years I doubt that Macpac have any spares, If they did it would not be cheap

I remember they used to come in green, blue and I think red. There was a version in yellow/orange as well.

Otherwise I only remember green and blue with blue being more common

Has the design changed in the time? I seem to recall old Minaret poles not fitting new tents, or some such problem.

Yes the designs have been "Tweaked" over the years and I don't think these poles will fit the newest versions.
I was thinking along the lines of suitability for a major hack but I still have that old Eureka Caddis to work on with a similar idea

Seller informs me it was grey originally and that the fly is very brittle

Ahh the wild weather memories...I still use my ancient olympus for family car camping trips. Treated the seams once over the years.

The new incarnation version is on sale at the moment...

I really do not like the newest incarnation, not sure why either, the asymmetry perhaps

Mines the same colour...fly's surface powdery from the exposure to UV over all those years.
When it does give up the ghost I was thinking of dismembering the fly segments & using them as templates for a new fly...I like a challenging project.

Yep, worth it for the poles if you get it get cheap enough.

ofuros I have long had a Caddis/Olympus hack in my head. Stretching the inner by adding in a 4th pole at the mid point, 300mm would add so much more room and the 4th pole would make it much stronger against snow loading
You could go as much as 800/900mm but the tent site size would be huge; 600mm might be a reasonable compromise
The PIF Eureka Caddis I was gifted is the 4P version and is crying out for this hack, for 3 season use anyway.
