TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Macpac Higtail anorack question??

On sale at the moment
Yes I know but I need a new windshirt and an XXL in this should fit me
I'm wondering how slim the fit is and if I could get away with an XL

From the pictures and the description it looks like a good match for the Patagonia Ninja top I already have

my wife has one and really likes it but unfortunately I can't comment on the mens sizing except to say it seems to be a generous fit..
I'm also a big guy, big shoulders and chest and I always like to size up on my outer shell.. gives me breathing room and space to layer for the cold..

just go the XXL and if not the right size, exchange it

I added 2 pair of the Alpine longjohns too
At $60- a pair a better cut and cheaper than Patagonia and I can cut the bottoms off to fit with my ski boots

Are those the Polartec power grid ones? I own a couple and think they are brilliant. Super comfortable and warm. My smalls come in at 130g, not too shabby.

Yes but I bought them mainly because they seem to have the same cut at the original Geothermals, especially the superb crutch gusset, I really liked those early polypro and acrylic Geo's for the fit and comfort

I don't think that this garment is a windshirt. It is pertex shield- waterproof-designed to compete with eVent.
I have a pertex shield AP cycling jacket that breathes very well, for a waterproof, but nothing like a real windshirt.

Replacement for/instead of in case I don't get a chance to sew one up before ski season starts and a full kilo lighter than my big Goretex for my day pack.
Reason for buying is that my new S/H Patagonia DAS will layer over this but not over my big Goretex

Just a heads up for those contemplating a purchase, they suit tall skinny people and they fit very very tight, in the garment i bought there is only 10mm of ease over the nominated chest size, not enough room for even heavy weight winter base layers let alone a layer of LW fleece and the Pertex Shield fabric has no stretch whatever so it binds badly across the back of the shoulders in the one I just bought and have to return
