TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Minaret tent on Aliexpress

Came across this model of NatureHike Minaret tent on my irregular Aliexpress scan and caught my eyes. It's claimed to be a pip over 1kg for fly and inner and the floor area looked to be quite functional. I wondered if there's any obvious downside from technical point of view? Admittedly given Aliexpress channel, the price isn't that attractive at US$230 for 'the lot'.

I suggest you make a mock up and see if you fit inside on top of your mat and inside your sleeping bag .
Note that the dimensions are for the fly not the inner.
So that 210mm size will be around 200mm .
This is for another tent, just to give you the idea of what I am talking about :

Yep, I have done what Franco is doing some time ago and he is almost on the ground.
You lose at least 30- 40 cms off the end with -a/the slope and -b/your inflatable mat (if you use one)-so 200cms becomes tight at 160cms. Inflatable mats pump up (pun intended) your height from the floor. Can you sleep diagonal?
Made for the Asian market and shorter people in general.
Depends on your height.
150cm person might just love it.

BTW, sleeping diagonally inside a two person tent makes little difference because you can't really tilt the mat all that much (if limited by a short length otherwise...) .
Can be verified simply by tracing the floorplan.

"angle with a small mat ? "
Yes you can with a short mat but my point is that if on a tent like that you can't sleep parallel to the long side because you don't fit, trying to do it at an angle does not make much difference at all.

Good point on the practical usable floor space. I do like that extra side extension of the inner for storage. A bit of a tough decision as the price isn’t exactly a bargain.

Have a look at some of the 3F ULGear mids on Ali Express,
and I am quite keen on Luxe Outdoors also, the MiniPeak 11
have had one of their tents and used it hard.

GPSG - I saw this sometime last year, and was pretty sure it was around the USD$150 mark. A few people had said that without the ground sheet the weight with the guy lines and pegs was closer to 1.3kg, and with the fly/inner/mat/pegs/guylines it was closer to 1.6kg. I was looking at a hiking pole tent to take to NZ in December/Jan last year. The weight meant it was more than even the Naturehike 2person Cloud Up that I had, or the Big Agnes Flycreek 2 that I was looking at getting.

Edit - here's one of the guys I had saved that had it for around USD$160 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Natureh ... 54103.html and another one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NatureH ... 92610.html

I ended up trying out another Chinese single skin tent pole tent (just under 1kg) after reading someone else's review here about them. I'll have to do a review on that one, as its been a corker and I've used it on the GOW, and in NZ for two weeks, and a few other hikes since.

Look forward to seeing your review. The lower price point sounded like was without the inner.
