TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Considering how expensive the small canisters of gas are for the amount of gas in them, I think you've got the right approach.

Hah No
A real TA would be scavenging charcoal and using a hobo stove
An environmentally sensitive tightarse.

Well we may be able to drop one or two on your doorstep when we come over next month. The POT allows up to 8 of these in the car

I already gave in to temptation and ordered a box of these to Tassie. 24 cans should last me 5 years
Assuming they arrive alright I'll probably eventually order a box of the bigger canisters, if anyone wants to split them I'm keen.

The larger ones are too awkward to pack. But if you feel like offloading a few of the 230s, I could be persuaded.

The larger units are good for refilling the 110g canisters tho
Tue 04 Sep, 2018 12:40 pm
110s are too small, 450 (?) too big. And I don't refill - too much mucking about for this lazy person. 230s are the goldilocks canister.

My box arrived- so it is legit
Lots of camp cooking ahead!

I just ordered a carton of 230g
For those in Melbournes Eastern suburbs they sell direct and will sell single canisters, I don't know what the single canister cost is but perhaps worth a phone call.

Be keen to find out how the Tassie guys go getting theirs

I don't see any problems. They use a courier company and the POT allows certain types of dangerous goods depending on packaging, a car can take both a 9kg LPG cylinder plus up to 18 canisters

This deal is really seeking a group buy and split the 24 canisters at less than $3 each. What's the catch? Anyone in Sydney?
Wed 05 Sep, 2018 10:25 pm
Well, I finally suckered myself into buying a set of the 230g ones. So more canisters than I know what to do with are now on their way to Canberra.
Thu 06 Sep, 2018 12:22 am
A group buy has been entered for folks in the Sydney CBD and surrounding area (unless you care to travel) in a separate thread.
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=28430In the meantime, thanks Nuts for flagging this great deal to the group.

Interesting, no longer on their web page....
Different link now says they're sold out

Yep, just got a phone call from them. Out of stock, expecting more at the end of the month.
Now I wonder why they're suddenly out of stock...
Thu 06 Sep, 2018 9:14 am
Still big ones in stock tho
If I have money later in the week I'll also order a carton of big ones, I do transfer

I get my pension payment at midnite

Similarly received a call and was offered 15 big cans at the same $69.95. Whilst I have the adaptor and do often reload my 100g can, it’s just too much and doubt if many locals would care to share on a group buy.

Y'all had me worried but my order has been shipped
Glad I ordered when I did
Thu 06 Sep, 2018 4:32 pm
I have ordered a box of the 450 gram canisters if anybody in Canberra is interested in a few. Just pm me.
Thu 06 Sep, 2018 5:46 pm
haha (good to see folks getting a 'win', decanting the bigger cans, if possible, is a good option)
I think this it the distributor's outlet. I'd expect it will always be available (maybe unless they get too much pressure from a major retailer).
(ps. happy to split our next order, in a month or so, for local pickup (in D'port))

I was wondering that myself Nuts assuming that any store that sells "gasmate" gear would be able to get them in as all their other "gasmate" gear on their website is around the going price in other shops.

Can you please reserve three for me?
Thu 06 Sep, 2018 6:21 pm
yeah. I'm not familiar with the gasmate range but retailers must set their own prices, at least down here going by the price of these cans, which were $7.95 /230g last summer.
btw. moondog, I did notice locally the msr cans took a big leap in price when I grabbed a few last year, so some are definitely on the rise.
(ps. sure can NNW)

Bunning NZ is selling Gasmate 230g cans for NZ$6.90 each, but 80/20 mix. Odd!

Quick So did mine this morning. I'm still debating whether or not to get a carton of large canisters for the car picnic bag

Can't believe how fast the shipping is for a dangerous item. Got my box today. Quite satisfying to look at, all the pristine canisters. I wonder how many boxes will be bought as a result of this thread.
