Very small torch ? Recommendations

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Very small torch ? Recommendations

I need a new back-up torch for "Just-in-case"
Looking for small and reliable and reasonably cheap. Only real criteria is that it needs to function on a single AA due to space limitations and light weight
This is to go in my neck pouch that also holds my compass'/ lifestraw and my Strike-a-lite
Is there anything really new in the market this Christamas?
Alternatively is there a stand out model that is worth paying a little extra for.
For years I used my Pelican penlight but when it died I never replaced it and they are now probably out of my reach costwise

When you say small -do you really mean small, do you mean 12 grams small?
I know you said AA battery but ....
Olight i1r EOS 130 lumen USB rechargeable keyring torch. This is my backupbatterycumtorch, carry it on every overnighter.
Not what you want I'm sure, but at least I gave you a laugh.

Petzel E-Lite @26g is an awesome headlamp. They market it as an emergency light but it's totally reliable and perfect, the best light I have had around camp, even good enough for getting to camp after dark. Doesn't fulfill your AA battery requirement but 3032 batteries are light and dont discharge over time like the AA's. I only carry an E-Lite now and if worst comes to worse, I can fall back to my smart phone!

12 to 30 grams ballpark, I did have a cheap key ring light but it isn't able to have the battery replaced due to losing several critical parts due to spring loaded catapult function that seemed to be inbuilt as a self destruct mechanism. All my other devices use AA batteries although that may change. I do find AA Lithiums reliable in the cold and that is what my headlamp [ camera / GPS] uses

Ha ha!
Love the 'catapult function' reference MD.

A mate calls those car door handle C clips 'jesus clips'. When trying to remove a door handle they suddenly fly off and one says "Jesus, where did that go?".

(apologies if thats blasphemy for some) funny though

fenix E05 runs on a AAA and is pretty simple head twist light. Fenix E12 is a AA, 29 grams before the battery, rear tail switch. I really like mine as I find the mode switching to be very intuitive. three modes that start from low to high. About 40$ from a reputable dealer, but I think a solid bit of kit.

Yes, primary (disposable) lithium. But not Li-ion.

In the meantime I spent $9- at Safeway and got myself a Dolphin Pico.
Although it is bigger and heavier than I want; it's a fat 67 grams with the included alkaline battery.
50 lumens and a 5 hour run time is adequate for an EDC I'll get myself one of the Fenix E12s when I've paid for my bothybag
