New gear for next winter?

I need a new much lighter rain garment for my ski touring, more so for day tripping
Has anybody yet used the Patagonia Torrentshell pullover?

It feels really flimsy when I hefted it but it is in the right price bracket for a just in case item of clothing and it isn't too heavy.

I’m really happy with my Outdoor Research Helium 2.
Used it yesterday on a day hike and it did the job well.
Light enough you can always have it in your pack “just in case” and given Melbourne’s unpredictable weather, it’s worth always carrying with you.

I also use it on occasional boat trips as a spray jacket.

Often pops up on Massdrop for a good price. Pants as well, although I rarely carry them.

Unfortunately OR don't make an XXXL in that shell but an XXL in the Patagonia will fit, I find OR sizing very tight. One of the reasons I am drawn to the Torrentshell is that is is a pullover and I prefer pullovers

I'm very happy with my torrentshell (the zip through version)

I get 10% off at Patagonia Torquay but I was hoping for a sale on them in the new year. Only mediums and smalls in the Geelong outlet.
I think I will get one and leave the heavy Goretex for Alaska. We are repairing and modifying the big Goretex at the moment anyway.

It doesn't fit over the Nano-bivvy. A shame but I can't see the point if I can't make it work with my current LW insulation layers, Patagonia haven't changed the cut pattern it seems and that pattern seems to be prior to the introduction of the Nano-bivvy.

I'm interested in how well you can layer under in your size.
The Patagonia clearance shop in Geelong has an XXL on hold for me "just in case" until after XMas.
I could take one to Remote and have them put in a large armpit gusset to give me room to move; the modification might be cost effective
