I found a site that sells these mini 6g toothpaste tubes.

Thought to post here.

Including postage, it cost basically 40 bucks for 100. So .40 cents each. The only downside is that its a minimum order of 100.
I found that these little tubes last a considerable time. Anyways, I should have a lot of these tubes soon.
If anyone is interested in some of these tubes I'm happy to part at cost. 40cents each plus postage (not sure on what postage would be but I think a handful could be posted as a letter). DM me if you're interested.

No hurry but I'll take a dozen or so, if less than 20mm thick anything can go at the letter rate, I usually sandwich between sheets of stiff card. Let me know how may you can fit in a DL envelope

That will be a no as going by letter... too thick to go through the automatic letter sorting machine ... will get crushed and make a mess every where.

Not true Warin, up to 20mm is fine, I've been doing so for over 30 years. It is important to use a sheet of thin card on either side to stop the small tubes from moving, I've even mailed SupaGlue like this with no problems

A nice find Huntsman. I have moved over to making my own toothpaste dots but before that, the few dentists I visited over the past few years always had 20ml sample tubes of paste for free; sometimes they were on the receptionists counter or behind the desk if supplies were a bit low.

I'll definitely take a few if the postage works out reasonably ?

Note that you can refill the small tubes from a large one by holding the two openings together and squeezing hard.

I usually do it when I’m about to clean my teeth anyway so if there’s any spillage I can use it.

Or refill using a 20ml syringe .

Actually, I just carry toothpaste decanted into a small screw top plastic pill jar. I’d forgotten about MarkF’s toothpaste dots - was there a link to them here? Were they dehydrated?

Costs nothing from the dentist to me.

If you ignore going to the dentist, there may be something wrecks in your teeth over time.

It isn’t easy to clean up the teeth. The dentist has a person cleaning up the teeth before even the dentist comes in.

Haven't got them yet but had a yak to the postie. The tubes won't fit as a small letter but would have to be sent as a large letter which is affected by weight.
Basically 10 tubes would be 2 bucks around Australia. Just thought to give an update.

Which is why I said a DL envelope, standard business letter size but it seems that now you have to go to a C5 letter size to get that 20mm thickness allowance But $2- postage is fine for me

My post office has a letter gauge.. if it is too thick then it does not go as a 'letter'...

Has to go as a 'large envelope'... rather then a 'small envelope'. Do they charge more for the large, may be that is why they check them...

I did get some sample tubes from the dentist a while back, but they were unwilling to give me any more. I offered to purchase them but as they are a promotional item which the clinic receives for free, they aren't allowed to sell them.

You can also get them from airlines, if you ask when you fly they will usually give you some. I have a tiny tube that weighs 4g but it is not much use except for at most a week if used sparingly.

I've just been informed nurses will have easy access to these too !

For the mileage I get out of those tubes... I really couldn't be bothered doing that...

I've pm'ed those that were interested. 30 tubes unacounted for left.
If anyone else is interested it works out at 6 bucks inc postage for 10 tubes.

Get your regular toothpaste and measure out as much as you usually use on a plate, and do this for the number of times you plan to clean your teeth. Leave the toothpaste on the plate in a sunny place until it dehydrates (or use a dehydrator). Put the balls of paste in a bag. To use, sip some water, chew some paste, clean you teeth.

Huntsman's tiny toothpaste tubes don't really need dehydrating and repackaging. If you pierce the foil inner cap with a pin rather than with the spike on the back of the lid, you get a really thin line of toothpaste when you squeeze the tube. Very little toothpaste is needed to give a fresh feel and taste, and I found that a 6g tube similar to huntsman's was more than enuough for twice-a-day brushing on a 16-day Larapinta hike.

Mine arrived with no issues.
Dehydrating toothpaste seems like a lot of work and effort for very little gain. One of these tubes will easily last me a week + and for longer trips I just use the scrag end of what I have in the cupboard. After all it isn't the toothpaste doing the real work and you don't need to use much at all

Squeezing a few dots of toothpaste on a saucer and leaving it on a sunny window sill for a few days certainly is a Herculean task, but the few milligrams saved for a week long trip certainly can be felt at the end of a long day!

It makes me feel guilty that I’m depriving Colgate Palmolive executives and shareholders from sorely needed bonuses and dividends by not purchasing goods where packaging is ~20% of total weight.

Because I store the paste dots in small ziploc bags that have come with myog hardware, I feel that I’m not properly supporting the plastics supply chain - hope they never get my address.

Such a waste of plastic!!

Why not buy a cheapo plastic container and fill it up with your own toothpaste. Cheaper and environmentally friendly

You can find them in any Asian or low cost shops, ie. Stacks.

They last forever. Just rinse it well after use and when you get home with some soap or dishwashing liquid.

Try these free mini samples your local dentist has.
They get them at no cost from suppliers so they will be happy to give them to you for nothing.
One tube easily lasts for more than a week
