In the long-running battle to prove who is the alpha male in the house, my kid’s cat decided to pee on my pack.

I’ve tried getting the smell out with soap and water but it’s still noticeable.

Any other suggestions?

Unfortunately getting rid of the cat isn’t an option.

Sounds like the cat has won . At least the smell may keep marauding possums and mice away from your food.

There are sprays to remove odours you can get at the supermarket but I don't know how well they work.

I’m pretty sure they just mask the smell and, when they wear off, the smell is still there.

Vinegar and carb soda.
I'm not sure of the technique but vinegar removed dog urine smell from the back seat of my new (at the time) car.
The smell has never come back.
Generous soaking of the stain with vinegar then soaking and wiping with water.

Time and water and more time. My wife loves her cat, me much less so

Have you soaked it in the bath?
Changed the water a couple of times?

I would soak the pack in the bathtub and add a cup of apple cider vinegar. That would be simple and cheap.
Eucalyptus oil might help.

Usually you tie a brick to the cat before soaking it in water. Usually the water doesn't need changing if it is deep enough.

Hey Mark, this cat would probably freestyle straight out and do squats with, or bench press the brick!

There’s a product called Urine Off which is available from some vets or rural/equine supply outlets. I think there’s a specific formulation for cat urine.
