TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Light weight pullover 243 gms

I got a cocoon pullover at a sale of 50% of the cost a month ago. Expensive but the 50% off made it OK. I love this piece of gear. It weight just 243 gms and it is warm and the Pertex Quantum material is soft so you can sleep in it extending the range of my 750 gm bag. I showed it to a few bushwalkers on the overland track last week and they could not believe how light this pullover was.

My wife got a similar jacket (with removable sleeves) from the USA a few years ago (not sure of the brand). Those down filled jackets really are the goods. I'll have to look into such an investment one day.

Just a note that the cocoon has synthetic filling.

Interesting... do you know how it compares to down-filled equivalents in terms of weight and compression? I don't have either myself, so I don't have much idea.

I agree, these types of jackets do look the goods when it comes to warmth. I like the idea of a vest type, zip up at the front, and loads of body warmth for a light weight, small sized item.
One day.....

The lightest down jackets are around 300 to 400 gms. I like the fact that the cocoon has synthetic insulation and is warm when wet as I carry a down bag. So even if my sleeping bag got wet I would be somewhat warm in the cocoon.
