Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knows if I would be able to take dehydrated fresh fruit and veg into Tasmania?
Additionally will they accept dehydrated food if they are not fresh (ie from a can or freezer before being dehydrated)?
Thanks,

Yes you can but to be sure check the guidelines set out on the Tasmanian quarantine web site
http://www.aera.asn.au/tq12/docs/tq12_quarrantine.pdfI have done so many times, but if in doubt give them a call or email and they are more than happy to help. The last time I emailed them they replied promptly and suggested I carry the reply with me if I had any troubles with an over zealous quarantine person.
Cheers

Thanks, sent them an email, so hopefully all should be good.
Can't wait to do overland, should be fun.

I didn't have any problems taking our dehydrated meals into Tasmania when we did the OLT. We flew into Launceston and picked up some fresh vegies on the way to Cradle Mountain. From memory, some of the dehydrated food we took included minestrone soup, lentil soup, apple and strawberry leather, dried fruit and dehy rice for a dessert pudding, & ingredients for sticky date pudding. Having an emailed quarantine reply sounds like a good safeguard. I didn't even think of that at the time. Enjoy the OLT!
