Emergen-C

Postby stu » Mon 20 Jul, 2009 8:57 am

For those that like to start the day with a glass of juice, thought this might be of interest for multi-day walks.

http://www.emergenc.com/

I had been trying to track this product down from the States for ages, but hefty shipping costs kept putting me off.
I finally found an Ozzie retailer stocking them so got a couple of packs last week.

http://www.completehealth.com.au/Brands/Emergen-C.aspx

The individual serve packets are tiny & light & will be a part of my extended walk meal kit;
(I tend to make 24 hour ration packs for walks of 3-4 days or longer as I am a bit of an organizational nazi + a bit of a hangover from my Army Reserve days;
that said it really helps to just pull out a pack at the start of a new day & have all your meals / snacks / drink powders bundled up & easily accessible).

The variety of flavours is appealing & they don't taste too bad; better tasting & better for you than Tang, but still nowhere near as good as the real thing.
At around 65c / packet they are pretty good value.

I'll stick to coffee. Any way you can dehydrate this to make it easier to carry? :shock:

Seriously though, good find!

Nowhere near as good as the real thing, but better than instant / coffee bags.
Always compromises.... :(

Thanks, but I was just being silly.
We take tea bags when walking. Can you believe it - what a sacrifice! No coffee for me on walks... :cry:

Wimp. I have a couple of mates who always take a coffee plunger with them when bushwalking. Even through the Himalayas . . . :roll:

Plunger doesn't cut the mustard when you're an espresso based coffee drinker.
A while back Damien sent me this in a PM.
By the way, nothing to do with Emergen-C but isn't it funny how conversations evolve on this site?

I also have a "French Press" which has done thousands of km on the trail used by number one son java addict however it does not make" real coffee" which tasadam not only makes and drinks but he roasts his own beans and has a proper coffee machine. so you should moderate your comments as to calling someone a WIMP ,I do notice you like to give out but dont like a return serve :? are you the opposite to a misogynist, I like it that you stirshite but we dont need semi personal pokes at anyone on this forum ( me excepted if you need bring it on) all in jest :)

Well, I kind of tend to assume that if someone says something that can be taken as an insult, they probably aren't really being insulting but are just having a wind-up. And I tend to expect (or at least hope) that most reasonable people will assume the same about me.

Of course, it's not really sensible to assume that most people will be reasonable most of the time . . .

As for the coffee, I take my caffeine cold or not at all - and not at all is the usual when out bush. Awful lot of fuss and trouble you addicts go through to get your daily fix. At least the stuff doesn't smell quite as bad as cigarette smoke.

Scavenger, Corvus is good at trying to wind people up, a bit of sport for him is his local banter fix. Unfortunately not everyone read the "wind up" in his posts and so they can sometimes be read in a way it was not intended. Hope that explains.

Oh, I know that, tasadam. But sometimes the best way to deal with a wind-up merchant is to appear to take them seriously. :wink:

I like your use of the language but you still are prevaracating , if you insult someone, that's what you do !! if you want to poo... stir
do it in an open fashion then even most others will understand what you are intending :)
and for the record I don't really drink coffee now

corby, I talk the way I talk, I'm not going to change it just to keep you happy. If you want to get all apoplectic about it, feel free. Waste of effort, but.

Aye. Corvids all. It's close enough. And you remind me of the lead characters from 'Twa Corbies'.
