Spot Gen 3 Service Plan

Postby Imprint » Thu 12 Mar, 2015 8:50 am

Hi there, can anyone tell me what's involved in the Spot Gen 3 activation process and service plan purchase?

I see the AU site has the basic service listed at $164USD and on the US site its $149USD, I was just wondering if there is anything country specific during the activation process, as technically this device will work in any of the supported countries.

Is this just a case of a $24USD Australia Tax?

Thanks

$149 US plus 10% GST = $164 give or take a few cents

And now I feel like an idiot, I didn't think of GST at all.

Thanks

If it is US owned a d operated why are we paying gst on it? My understanding was that if you activate it the alert goes to the US who then notify Australian authorities, if there is no Australian business monitoring and managing Australian activations then why gst?

I think you're right, which makes me keen to try signing up via the USA site, and seeing what happens.

They'll probably send emergency services to Torrance CA haha..
There's a code (on here somewhere, on the net) to get the tracking service free (maybe a better way to save a $)

If all emergency services go through the US which is what I understood to happen from the reading I did when I looked into one, I can see no reason to sign up through an Australian agent.

Unless you have a US address and CC, I suspect you won't be too successful. Distributors these days are getting smarter.
Just move it!
