ACR ResQLink+ and battery replacement

Postby ggorgeman » Thu 17 Mar, 2016 5:57 am

I purchased this unit (prematurely?) approx 18mths ago but only just now going about registering it with Maritime Board etc as I hadn't had need to use it until now. Reading instructions and reviews, I see that they have a 6 year battery life, which I'm curious about. Does anyone know the cost and process of replacement? Is essentially a throw-away? Any other little tips from experience with this unit would be great too. Cheers

Not sure about your particular model.

I bought a PLB1 recently, and before purchase, enquired as to the battery replacement cost.

The unit cost about $350, and the battery replacement was going to be in the order of $190.

Expensive - yes. But worth doing properly, and cheaper than buying a new unit.

Ring your local maritime shop. They'll have a PLB battery replacement service and will be able to give you a quote.
