Only one paragraph. You're slipping, Brett.

YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally got it all sorted. Unit connects with PC, talks to PC, transfers files to PC. I talk to unit, store routes, waypoints, whatevers. Slowly learning how to make the most of it. Will give me something electronic to fiddle with until the camera's back from the hospital, at least.
Now I just need to get some decent maps and learn how to use VantagePoint. Should be a doddle . . .

The Triton is close to being weatherproof, although it does have some strange anomalies . . .

. . . the front is all rubberised (including over the controls) with seals over the side switches and plugholes, but the PC interface contacts on the back are bare, and the battery compartment isn't sealed. Doesn't really make sense to me. But it copes well with being dropped in the snow and being rained upon. Or being in camera bags that fall down rock faces . . . which is a good thing . . .

And now that VP is running properly as well, it turns out I have decent maps - the stuff that came with it is a good set of topographic maps, though with a disconcerting lack of names. So all is grouse with the world.
