I like Locus for my device which runs Android OS.
I am trying to convert Qtopo maps to use with it. There is a blog a couple of years old in here telling how but it is written presuming the reader is a computer guru. Qtopo says just use a GIS to convert the maps. I have installed GrassGIS but hit a brick wall at that point. Can anyone assist or offer a better solution for offline topo maps in Locus in Qld?

Is a couple of members that are GIS experts so hopefully they will chime in.
You want to use locus however if you're still not having luck you could try oruxmaps which has full geopdf support. Just save the map pdf to your phone and your ready to go.

Not an expert in this area so this is just some thoughts from scratching around the internet.
Locus
does not support GEOPdf files:
http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/can-locus ... the-futureQtopo downloadable maps appear to be GEOPdf. GEOPdf files are TIFF image files with geo-referencing. You can extract the TIFF image from a GEOPdf file. You can do the extracting with gdal:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Con ... to_GeoTiff. Gdal download information:
https://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/Downlo ... alBinariesTIFF images can be imported into Locus, here are some instructions on importing image file such as TIFF:

Hope this helps in some way,
Michael.
