GoPro Hero 3+

Postby cixelsyd » Mon 04 Nov, 2013 8:13 pm

Anyone using a GoPro? I'm considering getting a Hero 3+ to capture my hiking outings. The image quality looks awesome.

To me, GoPro is an action cam, otherwise it's a good quality 1080p HD camera with a wider angle lens. Would one use it to replace a regular 1080p video capable camera or smartphone on walks if "action" is not a criteria?

I've used a gopro 3 on a few trips. Great fun.

I added a mount to my walking pole for that extended action shot selfie. Lol. Fun.

I've also done some great time lapses. You can mount it on a mechanical egg timer to get that great panning effect. I use one from ikea, easy to adapt and quite light.

I used one on the road trip, just video , at Redbank, Nitmiluk and Karajini - more because of the waterproofness than anything else. I was surprised at just how small and light they are, and the image quality is stunning for the size, but it is a bit buggy and the menu is horribly fiddly.
