There is a 'total fire ban' tomorrow... will people in the huts still be allowed to 'cook' (ie use there stove to boil water)?

In Tasmania bushwalkers are permitted to use gas stoves, and they don't need to be in a hut.

Bush walkers are advised that the only cooking appliance that can be used on Total Fire Ban Days are LPG (Butane or Propane) cookers or stoves providing that they are clear of any flammable material for a distance of 1 metre.

I think that stoves would be permitted inside huts in NSW. They are in Victoria.

Gas appliances inside buildings are usually permitted even during TFBs. But leave the metho at home.

Update from head Ranger Cradle Valley

There are currently no restrictions on park access or walking tracks. The
Overland Track is open, however all walkers are being briefed on the
increased fire risk and fuel stoves are only to be used inside the huts
(not in the open).
Walkers are encouraged to undertake shorter day walks (<2 hrs in duration)
and maintain regular communications to receive updates on any emergencies.
Please ensure your local bushfire response plans are in place & ready for
action.
