Return transfers on the cheap?

Postby Queenslander » Mon 13 Dec, 2010 6:18 pm

Hi,
I am doing the Overland Track in February with 4 other queenslanders (5 in total) and want to find a way to Cradle Mtn from Launie and be picked up form Lake StClair and dropped back to Launie. Does anyone know of someone who will do a bus transfer this for less than $400 all up?

Hi Queenslander.

We did it a few years back and I can't remember what we paid but I don't think it was that much. Furthermore the guy that runs the company is super nice and will organise any gas canisters you need etc. I will go and google it for you but it's something like tiger tours or something. He picked us up from the hotel, drove us to the visitor center to pick up passes etc then takes you to wherever you want to start the walk. He then picks you up at lake stclair at the end on your nominated day and takes you back to the hotel.

I'll go look it up for you :-)

I recommend purchasing Frank_in_Oz's ebooklet for hiking the overland track. It covers everything including your questions about transit arrangements.
It's the best $10 you'll ever spend.

$70ew looks like a reasonable price  , they would be a couple of (suprising) long, hard wearing and potentially expensive return drives.

For the hours the driver will need to put in for this trip (12+) $400.00 would not cover running costs so $70.00 per head each way is very reasonable , considering it is "door to door" and you are only looking at $60.00 per head more overall :)
