Are you based in the area ? I couldn't see anything on the cam this afternoon, as thinking about heading up tomorrow, especially if there's any snow. Might even get a few reasonable days of weather.

Interesting few days ahead.
There is a current bushwalkers alert for the central, west & south of the state.
Regards OLM

From the Mercury

http://www.themercury.com.au/news/tasma ... 237c9df02a

Tasmania Weather Watch says the state could witness a historical snow event on Wednesday with snow possible to sea level in some southern and western parts.

Forty centimetres of snow is forecast for Cradle Mountain and Central Lakes while the Greater Hobart region is expected to be surrounded by snow with falls in high-level suburbs such as Mount Stuart, West Hobart and Mount Nelson.

Some snow may be possible around Brighton and New Norfolk as well.

Snow is also likely to get very close to the coast in the north.

And the higher peaks on the Western Tiers & Central Plateau.
Fairly wild on the coast, strong winds, heavy rain.
Trees down & rivers starting to flood again.
Drive Safe. Keep Warm.

2:30PM update.
Snow is settling at the Dove Lake car park & the police rescue vehicles are still parked in front of the webcam.

A huge dump overnight & it is still snowing.
Hopefully the ice will clear from the Dove Lake webcam.

Snow is covering the Dial ranges here at Ulverstone.
Snow flurries at sea level as I drove past Penguin.

There are many road closures, there will be further updates during the day.

Thanks FootTrack.

The webcam is clear this morning.
One two wheel drive stuck in the car park.
And one vehicle track (Parks) checking the road out I guess.

Drive safe. Keep warm

Thanks for the screen shot MM
The Dove Lake Rd was closed all day.
I spent the morning at Waratah, Tullah & Rosebery.
The snow was thickest between the Finger Post & Cradle turnoff (Murchison Highway) with very little snow around Tullah & Rosebery.
Very scenic, cold and snowing heavy at Waratah.
Coming home the road was clear.
Thought about going past Cradle, but had a couple of jobs at Penguin.

Further falls overnight with Mt Roland getting a fair dusting of snow. Western Tiers have a good cover as well.
Great Lake Facebook page states they received a few extra centimetres over night.
Dove Lake Rd is still closed. Web cam is partly clear with blue skies possible today.
Regards OLM

4:00PM update. Only 4x4 buses went into the Dove Lake car park today.

Just waiting for that clump of snow to fall off the lens, and we'll have a glorious sight I reckon...

Walked from N-S 24th to 30th July, walked in snow from top to bottom, very deep in places, average was around knee deep, chest deep getting onto Pelion Gap, average at the gap was 120cm and many times 140cm walking poles could not find bottom. Will post more pics and lessons learned from a interesting walk in a separate thread.

Looking at the Dove Lake web cam today, more snow fell overnight settling just above the Dove Lake circuit track.
Also settled on the Central Plateau & Lake Augusta areas.

It was clear to the East this morning driving on the Anthony Road heading to Queenstown.
There is a huge amount of snow on the peaks South of Cradle Mountain.
Very picturesque. Has anyone been on the track lately?

Yep! Just came down from there today. Snow almost reaches the face track on front side of Cradle and the walk from Marion's to Waterfall Valley is pretty snowy still across the plateau. Summit might be reachable with some spikes but is still pretty snow covered. On the back side of the mountain and southern end, snow (sparse) reaches right to the ridge before dropping into Waterfall Valley. Here's a picture taken from Mount Emmett summit yesterday (29 Aug).

A dusting of snow on the higher peaks today.
Snow settled at Great Lake around 3:00PM (Hotel facebook page).
There will be further falls overnight, if the rain doesn't wash it away.
