Mother Cummings from Scott's Rd

I went up to Mother Cummings from Scott's Rd last year, but wasn't driving that time and didn't take enough notice of the route. Now I've used Google maps to track down the route but that takes me on the B12, then Caveside Rd to Scott's Rd.That doesn't fit with my memory of turning turned off the Bass Highway just East of Deloraine and going through Meander and past Huntsman's lake on the way to Scott's Rd. Can't find Scott's Rd on any paper maps. Can anyone please clarify?

According to The List (Google),"Scotts Rd[Meander]", leads to the Mt Parmeneer area; (which isn't really the Meander area, as far as I know).
Are you sure you're not confusing the name with Smoko Rd?
If you type Mother Cummings Peak into The List, you'll have the 1/25k map there, with the route in front of you. Just zoom out a little using the box choices on the left of the screen.

The List: Click on the "List Map" box. Then the "Mapping" box. Then type "Mother Cummings Peak" into the "Place or Name" box and click on the upper of the two choices in the "Search Results" box.
The little hand/"Pan Map" icon allows you to drag the map around.

It is located about 8kms southwest of meander and the turnoff is about 2kms southwest from the junction of huntsman road and smoko road. Grid reference is 55S 463372E, 5383528N, elevation 660m.

No, Smoko Rd is a different route up, and I gather access is now less easy due to flood damage.
Having been up previously from Scott's Rd I wanted to use the familiar route.
There seem to be several Scott's Rds, but this one may also be known as Scott's Lookout Rd. Remarkably, I found it to be very well sign-posted.

Have heard of The List but not used it, so thanks for the suggestion - will think of it for future occasions.

Thanks for the superb info. I was amazed to find it very well signposted - should have had more faith in the signposters, but past experience has somewhat destroyed that faith
Had a terrific walk up there, and it was great to have a couple of hours to wander around on top botanizing and just enjoying being there.

Has anyone been down that road recently? Last time I was there, which was surisingly in 2014, the road was so rough that I thought I would need to recruit someone with 4WD next time. Now hoping to do it next week, so any more recent info would be much appreciated.

I went along Scotts road recently and it is quite rough and washed out, has not been maintained for a long time. I would not take a low clearance car along it but something like a Subaru would be okay.

I went up there in June and although we have a 4WD, it was not really necessary. The road is a bit rough but my previous 2WD would have been OK.

The track is reasonably well marked until you reach the top of the plateau where random markers and cairns don't help much. Make sure you can navigate back to it when you head off across the untracked area to the Peak or Head.

Thanks for the info teak and MrWalker. It's sounding manageable. I drive a VW Caddie which has reasonable clearance.
Yes fortunately I realised on my first visit how easy easy it would be to go astray on top.
Hoping for scoparia to be flowering but haven't seen many reports of the season yet.
