Crash site Lake Naomi

Postby flyfisher » Mon 24 Sep, 2007 9:12 pm

Anyone been to Lake Naomi. Dick Reed and others crashed a plane on takeoff in about 1960's.
First time I went there in 1978 there was a lot of it still there ,as was his hut which has since been destroyed by fire.
There was a 4wd track out there then which was closed when the area became world heritage. A few 4w drivers cut a wing off the plane and towed it back to the hut and set it up between a couple of trees
Naomi is a lovely lake with good camping, as is Olive Lagoon. This area also provides easy access to Lake Pogana and Pats Tarn,as well as Lake Denton,Lake Rotuli, and the Pine River valley not far away. :)
