South Coast Track (TAS) - Truncated Timeframe!?

Hi all,

Has anyone done Tasmania's famous South Coast Track (c. 85km) in 3 days? I understand that most like to savour the experience and extend it over 6-10 days but I want to know whether anyone has done it quickly and whether the terrain would allow for a 3 day expedition.

It's been done in that sort of time. Jeanette Collin reportedly did it that quick a cpl of times at least.

Legendary Tassie walker... first person to Vanishing Falls, over 20 Sthn Ranges traverses and countless Port Davey tk/Sth Coast track trips...funny how we know about the men who left their mark...

Oh I like these types of explorations!

As others have said, it's been done before. So at least you know it's possible.

I reckon you'd go:

* Melaleuca to Louisa River
* Louisa River to Surprise Bay
* Surprise Bay to Cockle Creek

If for some reason you had more time on the second day, you could push it to Granite Beach to make it a tad easier the next day

That'd be a slog though, and you'd probably need summer hours.

Deny King did it in two. I dont imagine he was carrying much. And if I remember the story correctly he may have had a bit of romantic motivation propelling him along

Really needs a soundtrack. Just add a lot of squelching to the South Cape Range section.
