Best views starting from Dove lake?

Postby ventimi » Sun 23 Apr, 2017 12:27 pm

Hi everyone, I'm visiting Tas for 4 nights next week as part of my trip over from the UK. I'm looking for two good day trip hikes.
I'm reasonably fit (just spent 4 nights hiking/camping in Wilsons prom).

Thinking one from Dove lake - I'd heard thus might be a good option: via Hansons Peak, across the Face Track, up Cradle Mountain, down via Marions Lookout and Crater Lake.

Can anyone give me the best resource for working out hours needed for that? I have http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/file.aspx?id=34557 but doesn't give much detail.

Any other I should be looking at?

Thanks so much!

Just the map and public opinion, there are some steep/slower sections and the 'face' track is a bit rougher.
While the summit isn't far or any huge elevation gain, the boulder jumbles will take time.
And time will fly, given the extensive views... then it's not unusual to see runners, opinions will vary widely.
I'd say 6-8 walking hours fast/average? :)

(Back via Wombat Pool will return you to Dove L ..)
