Track from Mersey Forest Rd to Grail Falls and beyond

Postby tassie walker » Sat 18 Nov, 2017 12:22 pm

It's a few years since I last walked the track from the end of the Mersey Forest Rd to Junction Lake via Chapter Lake and Grail Falls. I am wondering if anyone has been along it recently and can tell me what condition it is in. I assume it had very little use while the Rd was closed. Any info appeciated.

Not a personal account, but the guy who runs the Waterfalls of Tasmania website did the track as far as Grail Falls in early September and said the track was easy to lose and he needed a GPS or would have been stuffed.

I walked to Cathedral Mtn. a month ago and the road from the Walls turn-off to the end is very rough. The track from the registration booth to the next creek crossing is hard to follow due to fallen trees and regrowth since the fires a couple of years ago. The rest of the track is okay to Grail Falls, I have not walked the track to Junction Lake for about a year so don't know about that section.

Thanks for the info Caedo12 and teak. Hopefully the good weather will hold out long enough now.
