federation peak rock equipment- minimum

What is a minimum of rock-pro equipment to go with a 20-40m rope to protect the exposed section of scramble route up Federation Peak?
Guide notes say minimum 20m rope, but 40 is better, but no mention of what protection gear will be most useful. I imagine on such a well used route, someone will know just what to take, e.g 3 small wires, or a #2 Friend etc.
If the rope is just for body belay, I don't know I would bother.

I suspect most people who are familiar with climbing gear wouldn't have a need for it there and so most likely wouldn't have thought about it during the climb. I sure didn't pay attention to protection possibilities. Lacking the specific details I'd take a selection of small to medium gear, like you might on some other semi-technical climb with exposure.

You can always munter belay a less experienced member up with an improvised sling harness. Looping large "chicken heads" or bollards would be the most straight forward I'd assume.
