WOJ Scoparia flowering

Wed 19 Dec, 2018 12:16 pm

I'm hoping to get to the WOJ in the next few weeks and I'm hoping to see masses of colourful scoparia flowers brightening up the place. It isn't something I haven't had much luck with over the years, so if anyone who has been there recently or is going in there very soon could give me some indication of how the flowering is going this summer, it would be greatly appreciated. Pics would be great. Thanks.

Flowering was starting in some areas at the start of the month, still mostly buds in the central Walls. By now I would expect it to be going off nicely, but it doesn't look like one of those years where the stuff is reasonably well co-ordinated. Started at Mt Field early November.

Not in WOJ but I went along Blue Peaks track today and the Scoparia was in full flower.

I was at WOJ over christmas. The flowers were a bit of a mix. Some looked done, some were in full bloom and some looked too early. There were plenty of good ones around Solomons Jewels. Disappointingly the ones around Lake Salome weren't quite at their peak which would have been (even more) stunning. Very nice at Dixons. Some nice patches at either end of Lake Ball and some more near where the Lake Adelaide Track meets the main track.

Thanks for that guys. Unfortunately I won't be able to get there this summer after all. Hopefully next.

Not in the WOJ but I came across this richea scoparia with one HUGE branch on a bush with "normal" sized branches. Has anyone else come across one like this?
