What are some good walks to take a family and a 17 week old dog?

I walk mine in the Government Hills/Bedlam Walls area on the Eastern Shore of Hobart.

I do quite a bit of dog-packing..... have bought and made equipment..... a ggod mob for buying bags is wolfpacks in usa.... but be careful - the load must be centered over the dogs front shoulder - NOT the back... and IN CONDITION only 25-30% of the dogs mass...
once all that is sorted, my best tip is put a wine cask bag into each side as ballast weight- if the bags are weighted unevenly it can hurt your dog over time and slip etc.... 17 weeks is too young for a heavy load though- maybe carry the bags empty or just with the dogs poo bag and scoop untill it gets used to it and a bit stronger boned and older...... also watck for grass seeds under strapping and tick treatment, vacinations, and obedience training is a must! - there may be dog agility clubs around for tips etc too.... There is a US mob called dog scouts that have some good info too

I live on the coast and I've taken my dog (who at the time was 20 weeks old cocker spaniel) up into the dial range, these are good short walks for a dog. Also Mt Claude was a good walk for my dog. Just be careful about snakes in summer.

Mine have got 3 - the race is on!!!!

Seriously though I was in the Midlands with them and found myself in a fox baiting area so had to stick one of them (the food obsessed one) on a lead - something to be aware of.
Do the Fox Task Force advertise where they bait??

Have contacted them, will be interested in their response.

should be at all vehicle access points.
They forgot to take the sign I saw down as baiting has long since finished.
The baits are meat based and break down over 30-odd days.

Sirius.....mug shot on right.....now has 27 peak bagging points....as he goes pretty much every where except NP's of course. He's almost 10 yo and slowing down a bit but still manages to do some awesome climbs. His best was Mt Ironstone...really tuff for him getting through/under the thick scorpia etc. on the plateau, but as always he persevered finding the easier spot to go.
If you haven't already done so....a FREE permit is available from PWS Molecreek to access the entire Central Plateau.
Haven't yet stayed overnight but intend to do so in the coming months.

Sorry about your dog liam..

My dad has a kelpie cross sheepdog who has joined us on a bunch of walks, namely:
-Ragged jack
-Mt Arthur
-Mt Victoria
She's pushing 10 years now I think so I think her bushwalking days are at an end I reckon she had over 5 points though!

With "Sirius" being my constant companion it's truly hard to imagine life without him now, as must be the case for you.
