Sweden - butane canister fixture?

Postby nickthetasmaniac » Thu 10 Jul, 2014 1:16 pm

Hi everyone,

does anyone know whether Sweden/Norway use screw-in or clip-on butane canisters?

Cheers, Nick

Good question Nick, I've been assuming they use the same screw in as here, but worth checking...

This might be a useful gadget for the kitbag:

"NOTE: Not compatible with later generation Jetboil Cooking Systems (the one's with the square section aluminium valve assembly) but it compatible with the earlier cast brass valve assemblies."

Looks like Primus gas is there:

I've looked into the adapters, but I won't need one if they use screw-ins :)

Europe is all over the show with this stuff - doing the HRP and constantly crossing between Spain (screw-in) and France (clip) was a nightmare :/

Turns out Primus is a Swedish company, and they do the screw connections:

Probably, gas will not be a problem. Also, I read on outdoors magic that some of the huts on the Kungsleden sell gas cannisters.

I know this would be a little late, but I will add that the valve used here is the Lindal valve, or 7/16 as it is also called.

I always thought this was the valve itself, and it could be used with pretty much any connector system?

7/16 is the diameter of the connector, so it's pretty specific.

Yes but isn't the Lindal valve the part inside the canister?

Ah, it may very well be. I didn't know that, we use the two terms as synonyms over here, as far as I know. But I have to admit that I'm no canister connector expert.

Just a quick note about huts on the Kungsleden. Some of them in the northern section (Nikkaloukta to Abisko) sell gas canisters but the supply is often unreliable, especially towards the end of the season. But all the huts have gas cookers anyway.
Cheers
