This will be somewhat hit and miss. There are obviously many nice places in Ireland. Glenveagh National Park?

We did not go that far north in Ireland John.
Our road will take us past the lakes in view and through the gap to a major town.

I thought there was something vaguely familiar about the terrain. Along the "road to Hana" on Maui I think, Wailuaiki Falls?

That's it, John. I really enjoyed the road to Hana - the rest of my family got car sick from all the bends in the road.

We also enjoyed it Tyreless but left the rental car behind and did it by small bus. I don't think my nerves would have coped driving it. Coincidentally we gave an American lady with us some motion sickness tablets after she became very ill from all the bends etc.

I can't decide if this is too easy or too hard - NZ:

Real punt here but it kind of looks like what I remember of Milford sound (looking west-ish). Your subtle clue also suggests this

Yes Brian, earlier I was just a little off when you were actually on the Isle of Skye . It's a long time ago that we passed through Glencoe. I recall some waterfalls but can't remember if we visited this spot.

Yes I'll pay that WFBW. I should have asked more explicitly, was anticipating name of main features in the frame. It is from Kea Point, overlooking Mueller Glacier lake and moraine wall with the Hooker Valley behind. Aoraki/Mt Cook is obscured by cloud.
